M4EG Initiative in Armenia presented at the 6th annual Conference of Communities in Armenia

On December 8-9, 2017 the Research Center of Central Bank of Armenia in Dilijan hosted the 6th annual Conference of Communities co-organized by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development and the Union of Communities of Armenia.

High-level government officials, including the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Davit Lokyan, addressed the participants of the event stressing the emerging role of communities in promoting and supporting local economic development, as well as the increasing the role of self-government bodies in the frame of current reforms in public governance system.

The Mayors for Economic Growth coordinator for Armenia Sevak Hovhannisyan presented the Initiative and its first results to the Conference participants, underlining that its key tools and approaches fall in line with the national priorities, and provide a good roadmap to achieving sustainable economic growth at the local level.  

The Conference gathered together more than 150 participants including heads of communities, specialists from regional administrations, representatives of Territorial Development Foundation, as well as of international Initiatives such as the Covenant of Mayors, and Mayors for Economic Growth.
