Launch of the Pioneer Project in Edinet municipality: an industrial hall and a business incubator will be created with the EU support

25 April, 2018 –  A public launching event of the Pioneer Project “Edinet – Economic Growth Pole in North Region of Moldova” was held at Edinet municipality. The project is funded by the EU under the Mayor for Economic Growth (M4EG) Initiative.

Representatives of the EU Delegation to Moldova, Edinet municipality and district council, the North Regional Development Agency, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova, Community Integrated Development Centre, local business, civil society organizations, students from the “Alecu Russo” Balti State University gatheredto develop concepts of joint actions for the project implementation. In total, around 70 participants attended the event.

Head of Operations Section of the European Union Delegation to Moldova Mr. Aneil Singh welcoming the participants underlined the importance of the long-term partnership  of the EU with the Republic of Moldova and inducted to cooperate with other EU-funded initiatives to facilitate the sustainable local economic growth in the region.

“This Project will help to create new jobs and ensure local economic development in north region of the Republic of Moldova”,stated Mr. Constantin Cojocari, the mayor of Edinet municipality.

The pioneer project “Edinet – Economic Growth Pole in North Region of Moldova”is one of three projects to be implemented in Moldova with the goal to support Moldovan municipalities in their economic growth and sustainable development. To improve local capacities and business infrastructure in Edinet region, a new industrial hall, a business incubator and a business hub will be created within the framework of the pilot project. Total budget for the initiative is EUR 644 ths.  The EU will provide EUR 579 ths. The duration of the project is 24 months.

The launching event culminated with Mr. Aneil Singh handing over the commemorative plaque to the mayor of Edinet municipality.
