The number of M4EG Signatories during April-June 2018 reached the total of 251 members of the Initiative, which is a 17% increase compared to the previous quarter

Two M4EG Pioneer Projects officially launched in Gagauzia and Edinet (the Republic of Moldova)

The autonomous region of Gagauzia and Edinet municipality of the Republic of Moldova held the kick-off events for their M4EG Pioneer Projects in late March and April 2018 respectively, thus officially presenting them to the public and launching them into action.

Do you want to know what all the “Mayors for Economic Growth” Pioneer Projects are about?

In December 2017, the grant agreements were signed for the total budget of around 9 million Euro, and the implementation of the 16 competitively selected pioneer projects started in early 2018 across the Eastern Partnership region. The Pioneer Projects are funded by the EU, and managed by the EU Delegations in respective countries.

The Mayors for Economic Growth Team took part in the European Union Day celebration in Moldova

On 12 May in Chisinau and 19 May in Ungheni, the Mayors for Economic Growth Initiative for the first time ever joined the “residents” of the so-called European Village, which grew in the centers of these cities on the occasion of the annually observed European Union Day in Moldova.

The M4EG Initiative helps cities and municipalities of the Eastern Partnership region master the nuances of territorial marketing and promotion

During an informal needs assessment held among the Signatories, who were actively involved in the M4EG capacity building programme, it was discovered that the special topic of External Positioning and Marketing is generally seen as the highest priority issue area, where local capacity is still not sufficient.

Therefore, a special training on territorial branding and attracting investment was offered to the Signatories to facilitate their work on their Local Economic Development Plans.

The Mayors for Economic Growth Initiative convenes its second Steering Committee meeting in Moldova

On 27 June 2018, the key stakeholders of the EU flagship Initiative “Mayors for Economic Growth” gathered together in Cimislia, Moldova, for the second time since the start of the Project implementation in January 2017.

Mayors for Economic Growth (M4EG) is a flagship initiative of the European Union, which was set in operation in January 2017 within the Eastern Partnership framework. The overall goal of the project is to support Mayors and municipalities of the Eastern Partnership countries to become active facilitators for economic growth and job creation at the local level.
