The “Mayors for Economic Growth” Club keeps growing!

However, due to the processes of communities’ amalgamation, which are underway in some of the countries, the merging of some signatory administrative units in Armenia already resulted in the decrease of the official total number of M4EG Club members as of the very start of 2018. More detail on the M4EG Signatories is available through the interactive map.

16 pioneer projects in five countries have been selected by the EC for grant funding in the framework of the Mayors for Economic Growth Initiative

The main idea of the pioneer projects is to demonstrate how a Local Economic Development Plan can be implemented in practice through a project-based approach. The main grant recipients are local administrations of the Eastern Partnership region. The duration of the projects varies between 1,5 - 4 years, with all of them rolling out their implementation in 2018. The total projected budget of the EU contribution to these selected interventions is 8,355,750 Euro.

More detail on the pilot projects will be available on the M4EG website shortly.

The first out of four training modules has been conducted for 115 designated representatives of the most active Junior M4EG members region-wide

The participants have been introduced to a comprehensive strategic planning toolkit that will help them initiate local planning processes, establish meaningful partnerships with relevant stakeholders, and jointly perform a comprehensive multifaceted analysis of the economic situation and business environment in their municipalities.

Three more trainings will be conducted in the first half of 2018 region-wide to support further stages of Local Economic Development Plans preparation.

The information about concrete training events in the participating countries can be found in the Calendar on the M4EG Website.
